Bill Clinton at the International Aids Conference
Aids 2010.org   Las Vegas Sun

This weekend the IAC is taking place in Australia to address the world health struggle. The former President stated in many countries, foreign assistance, including money for AIDS, is misspent and that funding should go directly to local organizations and national plans in developing countries that can effectively deliver services at a lower cost and less overhead than established organizations.
"I think in too many countries too much money goes to pay for too many people to go to too many meetings, get on too many airplanes," Clinton said, adding that too much is spent on studies and reports that sit on shelves.
The Head of the conference said world leaders 'lack the political will to ensure that everyone infected with HIV and AIDS gets treatment'

According to the World Health Organization, 33.4 million people were living with HIV in 2008. While the numbers of deaths declined to 2 million in 2008 from 2.2 million in 2004, about 2.7 million new infections still occur each year.

Mass action to end offshore drilling

The oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico has resulted in one of the worst environmental atrocities to date, endangering all forms of marine life and dramatically affecting the livelihoods of people all along the gulf coast. We, citizens of a gulf coast region, must send the message that we are not in favor of putting our ecosystems at risk. We will send that message at the northern end of South Padre Island, where Padre Blvd. ends. Park your transportation device on the side of the road and walk across the dunes to the shore to enjoy an afternoon on the beach and stand up for preservation of the gulf coast! See the link below for more info!
